Douglasville, Ga. (West Georgia Times) — A 19-year-old man was fatally shot Feb. 7 along Kings Highway in what authorities are investigating as a homicide, leading to the arrest of a 20-year-old suspect now facing murder and aggravated assault charges.
Police identified the victim as Lyric Farley, who was pronounced dead after officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area. First responders attempted lifesaving measures, but Farley succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to investigators.
Authorities later arrested David Powell in connection with the shooting. Powell has been charged with murder and aggravated assault and is being held pending further court proceedings. Jail records show he remains in custody as the case moves forward.
Investigators have not publicly released details about what led to the shooting or whether the two men knew each other. Police have also not said whether additional suspects could be involved.
