Douglasville Man Charged With Exploitation of Elderly Person, Held on $10,000 Bond

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (West Georgia Times) — A 66-year-old Douglasville man has been charged with exploitation of an elderly person, according to authorities.

Joseph Howard Wright, 66, is accused of financially exploiting his elderly mother. Details about the alleged amount of money involved or the length of time the alleged exploitation occurred were not immediately released.

Wright was taken into custody in Douglas County and remains jailed after Douglas County Magistrate Judge Tashe Dunlap set bond at $10,000, court records show.

The charge of exploitation of an elderly person in Georgia typically involves the illegal or improper use of an older adult’s funds, property or assets. Under state law, penalties vary depending on the amount allegedly involved.

It was not immediately clear whether Wright has obtained legal representation. No additional court dates were immediately available.
