Austell Man Indicted by Douglas County Grand Jury in January Cell Phone Store Robbery

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — A Douglas County grand jury has indicted an Austell man accused of robbing a local cell phone store earlier this year, authorities said.

Pedro Martinez Jr., 32, of Austell, was indicted March 5 on a single count of robbery in connection with the January incident, according to court records filed in Douglas County Superior Court. Martinez is currently being held without bond while the case proceeds through the court system.

Investigators say the robbery occurred at a cell phone retail store in Douglas County in January 2026, when Martinez allegedly entered the business and forcibly took property from the establishment. Authorities have not publicly released additional details about the items taken or whether any employees were injured during the incident.

Douglas County law enforcement officials began investigating shortly after the robbery was reported, gathering evidence and witness statements before presenting the case to the grand jury earlier this month.

A grand jury indictment does not determine guilt but indicates prosecutors believe there is sufficient evidence for the case to move forward toward trial.

According to Georgia law, robbery charges can carry significant penalties if a defendant is convicted, potentially including years in prison depending on the circumstances of the offense.

Martinez remains in custody at the Douglas County Jail following the indictment. Court officials have not yet announced a trial date.

The case is part of an ongoing effort by local law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute retail crimes across Douglas County. Authorities have not said whether Martinez is connected to any additional incidents.

Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
