LITHIA SPRINGS, Ga. — A Jonesboro man is accused of letting his inner child get the best of him after deputies say he stole more than $500 worth of Lego sets from a Lithia Springs store.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Kahil Vontez Fain of Jonesboro has been charged with shoplifting following an incident at a retail store in Lithia Springs.
Investigators say Fain used a self-checkout kiosk but did not properly scan several Lego products, leaving the store without paying for more than $500 worth of merchandise. Store employees later reported the suspected theft to authorities.
Deputies reviewed the incident and identified Fain as the suspect, according to sheriff’s investigators. Authorities allege he intentionally bypassed proper payment at the checkout station, shortchanging the kiosk while removing the items from the store.
Fain now faces a shoplifting charge in connection with the incident.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the case, including the exact date of the alleged theft or whether the merchandise was recovered.
Shoplifting cases involving self-checkout kiosks have become increasingly common as retailers rely more heavily on automated checkout systems, according to law enforcement officials.
